Lessons From Harvey

Lessons from Harvey

People are finally able to get back in their homes to see what they can salvage. Most flooded areas are still under water or surrounded by water so the residents are returning to their houses by canoe or boat. They are taken  to the front door and the boater waits for them to see what can be salvaged in that moment.

Homes Lost

Unfortunately, there are areas in the city that are just now flooding due to the water coming out of the overflowing reservoirs. Each passing day brings a new challenge for the citizens of this region of the country. Everyone could sit down and have a pity party but there is not time. People need water, clothes, clean up help, and hugs.

What is Important

The hurricane has been an amazing learning experience for all of us in the Houston area. The major proponent of the ordeal was not the flood water. The greatest lesson for all of us here is that people forget about differences in everything, riches, poverty, language, skin color, politics, or ethnicity when they must focus on one another to survive. I believe God must have a plan to put our minds back on a single purpose. The purpose He prescribes is to love one another and focus on HIM. Today the local churches were filled to overflowing and everywhere we turned the churches were not lamenting but praising God for the help we all received.  Maybe it takes a catastrophe to teach us that God is in charge, He is loving and He will care for us if you care for one another.

1 Corinthians 16 : 13 says,” Be on guard, stand firm in the faith, be courageous, be strong.  And do everything with love.” (NLT)

May God bless you as you grow through the flood in your life.

In Him
